Welcome to Acadia University and Open Acadia. I’m delighted that you have chosen to come to Acadia, either as a teacher or as a student.
Open Acadia is the University’s extended education division. We offer flexible programming and learning opportunities to Acadia students and the broader community. As a service unit, two concepts inform our operation: accessibility and excellent service. Accessibility is the primary driver of our offerings. Many courses and programs are available through on-line learning, whereby students and community members can participate from remote locations and often at times of their choosing. In other cases, we offer face-to-face classes both on campus and in off-site locations, often during evenings, weekends, and intersession (May-August).
Our commitment to excellent service is driven by our staff of academic technology specialists, instructional designers, computing specialists, English language instructors, a contract (for instructors) and exam (for students) coordinator, a coordinator for non-credit community based classes and workshops, and a terrific management team that oversees all aspects of our operation.
As the Acting Director, I have the privilege of working with this tremendous team of professionals in helping to guide our daily operations and chart our path forward. Enjoy your time at Acadia. It is a very special place!
